Weekly Spelling and Vocabulary Contract

 

Read the choices below to decide what activities you would like to complete.  You may choose any combination of activities as long as they add up to 100 points or more. You should complete at least one activity with your spelling words and one activity with your vocabulary words. The contracts are due FRIDAYS!  Put the point value next to each activity you turn in.

Some activities will require a parent to send a note saying work was completed.

 

25 Point Activities

  1. Rainbow Words:  Write your words 3 times each tracing over your words with 3 different colors.

  2. Divide each words into syllables.

  3. Illustrate at least 1/2 of your words, write your words under your picture.

  4. I Spy:  Draw a picture and hide your words inside.

  5. Write your words as many times as there are syllables.

  6. Use pasta letters to spell your words and glue them on paper.

  7. Write your words in ABC order 3 times each.

  8. Take a practice test with a parent and have them grade it.  (Parent signature required on test)

  9. Write your words in order from longest word to shortest word and then shortest word to longest.

50 Point Activities

  1. Write each word 6 times in cursive.

  2. Type each word 6 times each on a computer.  (Use Capital Letters only on words that need it)

  3. Make a word search (Include your answers).

  4. Write sentences using your words, underline the words, and include no more than 2 of your spelling or vocabulary words per sentence.

  5. Make a crossword puzzle using your words. (Include your answers)

  6. Cut letters (not words) from a magazine or newspaper and glue them on a paper to spell your words.

  7. Make a picture dictionary using your words:  Make a book out of paper,  Each page can show all the words that go with that letter, an illustration, and a definition.  You may also choose to use a different page for each word.  As long as you have done all your words in the correct ABC order, its fine.

  8. Choose 3 words and make as many words as you can out of each.  Don't combine all the letters from all 3 words.  Take one word and make as many words out of it, then go on to your next spelling word and do the same.

  9. Look up each word in the dictionary and write the meanings of each word.

  10. Make a study bag:  On index cards, write your word on one side and a sentence on the other.  Put them all in the bag and have your parents quiz you.  They must ask you to spell it or define it and be able to use it in a sentence.  I will send this bag back home so you can continue to add to it.  (Parent note stating that they quizzed you must be turned in.)

  11. Write a story using all your words.  It must be at least 30 sentences long and your words must be underlined. (All sentences must be complete)

 

75 Point Activities

  1. Write a poem using 1/2 of your words in your best cursive handwriting.  Give it a title and illustrate it.

  2. Write a T.V. commercial for your favorite toy.  Use at least 1/2 of the spelling or vocabulary words and be able to perform it for the class.

  3. Make a game that uses all your words.  Include instructions and be prepared to explain it to the class and play it with a classmate.

  4. Create a product on a poster you would like to sell and use 1/2 of your spelling words to advertise it.  Your poster must include the product, name, illustration, and cost.  Be creative and be ready to share.

  5. Pretend you are a news anchor, weather person, or reporter.  Using your words, write a report.

  6. Make a mobile that displays all of your words.  Be creative.  Each piece of your mobile should have your word and an illustration.

  7. Create a comic strip and write captions using your words.  Underline your words.

 

This is a contract that we will all sign.  By signing this contract, you are agreeing to do work each week with your spelling and vocabulary words that equal 100 points.
